☆  Death ☆

I’ve lived on the fence

Many-a-times

And also taken occasional plunges

Into the deep seas.

Yes, I’ve died

Not once,

But several times.

Whoever says

That there is no rebirth

Is wrong;

I am good specimen

Of enormous number

Of rebirths!

☆  Deadends ☆

Imagination,

A master craftsmen, painter and sculptor

All rolled into one,

Morosely paints scenes of dead ends,

Carefully crafts the finishing line

And sculpts your illusion

That sulks dejectedly and tearfully.

You believe in the obscure fantasy

You shudder in the make-believe pains,

You cry and wail,

And are ready to give up.

What is often required

Is just a little courage

To actually walk the road!

Dead ends will always be there,

But within you lights a lamp

Which shall make you push and shove

All the endings,

Transforming them

Into new beginnings!

☆  Darkness ☆

Imagine

When the trumpeting rains have shoved away

The vivacity of the branches of the trees

And they are gloomy,

When the sun refuses to show its face

The whole day along

And you terribly miss its beam,

When the footsteps of the darkness

That wraps the night

Are heard earlier than usual,

When you’ve had a hard day,

And someone smiles and asks,

“How are you?”

Just those three simple words,

Set forth a cycle of cheerfulness;

You begin to see the bright stars

And the darkness of the night vanishes

As if it was never there,

The splendid sun inside your soul

Gets ignited, burns amber,

And you are jovial,

From the branches of the trees,

Tiny leaves begin to sprout

Bringing the enthusiasm of your life back…

Tender love, care and fondness,

Can always rejuvenate you;

But then,

Why wait for others to ask you your well-being?

Why not let that splendid sun inside your soul

Be so glowing

That darkness thinks twice before touching you!

☆  A Plea to Santa ☆

Santa, Santa

Do not deny my wish,

Give me a Christmas gift

And let this Christmas eve be different please…

Santa, Santa

I want everyone to be happy and glee:

No tears, no sorrow;

Only contentment and ecstasy…

Santa, Santa

Let there be no gloom;

Please grant me a boon,

Let joy and prosperity bloom…

Santa, Santa

Let there be love and care;

No biases of caste, creed and race,

Let peace prevail everywhere…

Santa, Santa

Let us all join hands;

Form a human chain

Of affection that shall never end….

Santa, Santa

This is what I seek

Let this Christmas be

Different and unique!

☆  A Martyr’s Son ☆

My father’s voice, so full of vivacity!

A voice I love and adore!

It’s lost forever in the valleys of Kashmir-

Alas! That voice would be heard no more!

Born to a soldier, a patriot by choice,

A person who rowed the nation’s oar!

The voice that told me about Bose, Nehru and Gandhi,

Alas! That voice would be heard no more!

I am only four, not even young enough

To wipe the tears that my mother’s eyes wore;

Silenced by the bullets, his voice was massacred,

Alas! That voice would be heard no more!

Proud I am of your sacrifice papa!

Stories of your valour galore!

One day I shall become your voice papa!

And then, you will be heard once more!

The enemies may try their best to wound us,

But for every soldier killed, there will be four!

The sacrifice of the martyrs shall not go in vain

And, one day, my flag shall fly and soar!

Under Me as supervisor, Nature produces the moving and the unmoving; because of this, O Arjuna, the world revolves!।10।।

☆  The Poetry ☆

Poetry should be loved forever,

And to keep loving it,

You have to keep it

In the chambers of your fragile heart.

If you throw it out

And still expect it to love you,

You are in a world of illusion.

Hoping that it will adjust

To its new surroundings

Outside your heart,

Is a misapprehension.

Love is its forte

And it shall keep loving you,

But it shall

Neither knock at your door,

Nor even be visible to your naked eyes.

One day,

When you shall finally understand

How much did the poetry love you,

You will miss its benign presence,

You will yearn for it to come back,

You will crave to hold its hands,

You will long to clasp it in your warm embrace;

But it won’t return.

After all,

Poetry is a butterfly

And its wings are fragile.

☆  The Phenomenon ☆

It was October again,

Time when the clouds

Had been bidding adieu,

Year after year

To the Earth.

“Do you love me?”

The earth, couldn’t resist

Asking the cloud.

Since long,

No words had been spoken

Between them,

But she had always felt

That it was because of love

And the special bondage

That they both shared,

The clouds had been coming

And bathing her with affection.

The cloud coughed,

“What’s love?

I sprinkle raindrops

Since I become overladen-

It’s just a scientific process!”

And he vanished unhesitatingly.

The Earth stared for long

At the retreating cloud,

And despite the wetness spread

By the cloud a few moments ago,

She felt dry and barren.

She knew that

The clouds will come back again next year,

But neither will she long for them,

Nor await their arrival;

Getting soaked in the rains

Will just be another heartless phenomenon!

☆ OM ☆

The sky is in complete disarray today-

There is a lot of helplessness

In its flowing silver hair,

Its eyes have lost the twinkle,

The clouds have covered

Its luscious lips, forbidding it to speak,

The red moon on its forehead

Seems ferocious, as if on a revenge,

And bats fly all over the periphery

Crying aloud to hunt their preys.

I

Simply close my eyes,

Breathe in and out gently

Summoning your light O Lord,

And chant “Om”!

When I open my eyes again,

There is complete calm!

☆ Nothingness ☆

There are so many sentiments-

The feeling of being loved,

The desire for togetherness,

The emotions of hurtfulness,

The longing of your arms,

The sadness on parting,

The glee on arrival;

But everything in life

Has to settle down!

Nature is full of entropy

And the most obvious way

Is to tend to move towards nothingness.

The questions are-

When do you move towards zilch?

And how do you tend towards zero?

Sadly,

For why,

There are no answers!
