?अभी अभी # 214 ⇒ पहलवान… ? श्री प्रदीप शर्मा  ?

पहलवान धनवान भले ही ना होता हो, बलवान ज़रूर होता है। बिना पहल किए, कोई पहलवान नहीं बन सकता। वर्जिश और मालिश ही एक इंसान को पहलवान बनाती है। बाहर भले ही वह एक साधारण इंसान नजर आता हो, अखाड़े में वह भगवान होता है। जहां स्वर्ग है वहां भगवान है। जहां अखाड़ा है, वहां पहलवान है।

एक बार धनवान बनना आसान है, लेकिन पहलवान नहीं ! एक लॉटरी का टिकट, बाप दादा की वसीयत अथवा चार चार ऑप्शन, लाइफ लाइन और भाग्य के भरोसे, आप के बी सी के करोड़पति भी भले ही बन जाएं, लेकिन पहलवान बनने के लिए आपको कस कर कसरत तो करनी ही पड़ती है। किसी उस्ताद को गुरु बनाना पड़ता है, गंडा बांधना पड़ता है, अखाड़े की मिट्टी को सर से लगाना पड़ता है। बदन को तेल पिलाना पड़ता है, दंड बैठक लगानी पड़ती है।।

केवल रुस्तमे हिंद दारासिंह एक ऐसे पहलवान निकले जिन्होंने अभिनय के क्षेत्र में भी अपने दांव आजमाए। मुमताज जैसी अभिनेत्री के पर्दे पर नायक बने। कुछ भक्तों को जब हनुमान जी दर्शन देते हैं तो बिल्कुल दारासिंह नजर आते हैं और अरुण गोविल, प्रभु श्रीराम।

अखाड़े में राजनीति के दांव पेंच काम नहीं आते। पहलवानों की कुश्ती में राजनीतिज्ञों की तरह कसम, वादे और नारों से काम नहीं बनता। यहां जनता को मोहरा नहीं बनाया जाता। यहां दर्शक सिर्फ आपका हौंसला बढ़ाते हैं, ज़ोर आजमाइश तो आपको ही करनी पड़ती है। वोट की भीख, और जोड़ तोड़ से कुश्ती नहीं जीती जाती, यहां दांव लगाए जाते हैं, सामने वाले के पेंच ढीले किए जाते है। कुश्ती का फैसला अखाड़े में ही होता है, इसका कोई एक्जिट पोल नहीं होता।

राजनीति की तरह अखाड़े में भी झंडा और डंडा होता है। लेकिन झंडा अखाड़े की पताका होता है, उस्ताद के नाम से अखाड़े का नाम होता है। डमरू उस्ताद, छोगालाल उस्ताद, रुस्तम सिंह और झंडा सिंह की व्यायामशालाएं होती हैं, जहां किसी गुरुकुल की तरह ही पहलवानी की शिक्षा दीक्षा प्रदान की जाती है।।

पहलवान कभी घुटने नहीं टेकते। लेकिन यह भी सच है कि उम्र के साथ साथ जैसे जैसे वर्जिश कम होती जाती है, घुटने जवाब देने लग जाते है। कहा जाता है कि पहलवान का दिमाग घुटने में होता है लेकिन किसी भी रेडियोलॉजिकल जांच में इसका कोई प्रमाण आज तक उपलब्ध नहीं हो पाया है इसलिए किसी पहलवान के सामने ऐसी बे सिर पैर की बातें नहीं करनी, चाहिए, अन्यथा आपका दिमाग और घुटना एक होने का अंदेशा ज़रूर हो सकता है। वैसे भी राजनीतिज्ञों की तरह सातवें आसमान में रखने से अच्छा है, दिमाग को घुटने में ही रखा जाए। पांच साल में एक बार तो ये नेता भी जनता के सामने घुटनों के बल चलकर ही आते हैं।

कुछ पहलवान मालिश से हड्डी और मांसपेशियों के दर्द का इलाज भी करते हैं। इनका तेल, मलहम और सधी हुई उंगलियों की मालिश से मरीज को फायदा भी होता है। आम आदमी जो महंगे इलाज नहीं करवा पाता, इनकी ही शरण में जाता है। जहां दर्द से छुटकारा मिले, वही तो दवाखाना है।।

अब कहां वे अखाड़े और कहां वे पहलवान। लेकिन कुश्तियां फिर भी ज़िंदा हैं। आज की पीढ़ी भले ही जिम जाकर सिक्स पेक तैयार कर ले, ओलंपिक में तो आज भी पहलवानों का ही राज है। हो जाए इस बात पर ठंड में थोड़ी दंड बैठक ।।!!!

कोणीतरी विचारले मला परवा

तुला राम हवा की कृष्ण हवा

 

मी म्हणाले किती छान विचारला प्रश्न

सांगते, कधी मला राम पाहिजे कधी कृष्ण

 

रामराया पोटात घालेल माझी चूक

आणि कृष्ण भागवेल माझी भूक

 

रात्रीची शांत झोप रामरायच देतो

भूक लागली की कृष्णच आठवतो,

 

कशाचीही भीती वाटली की

मला आठवतो राम

कष्ट झाले , दुखः झाले की

कृष्णाकडेच मिळतो आराम,

 

रक्षण कर सांगते रामरायालाच

सुखी ठेव सांगते मी श्रीकृष्णालाच

 

बुध्दीचा विवेक रामाशिवाय कोणाकडे मागावा,

व्यवहारातील चतुरपणा कृष्णानीच शिकवावा,

 

सहनशक्ती दे रे माझ्या रामराया

कृष्ण बसलाय ना कर्माचे फळ द्याया,

 

रामाला फक्त शरण जावे वाटते

कृष्णाशी मात्र बोलावेसे भांडावेसे वाटते, 

 

रामाला क्षमा मागावी

कृष्णाला भीक मागावी

 

रामाला स्मरावे

कृष्णाला जगावे

 

अभ्यास करताना प्रार्थना राजमणी रामाला

पायावर उभे राहताना विनवणी विष्णूला

 

एकाचे दोन होताना घ्यावे रामाचे आशीर्वाद

संसार करताना आवर्जून द्यावा नारायणाला प्रसाद

 

आरोग्य देणारा राम

सौंदर्य देणारा कृष्ण

राज्य देणारा राम

सेना देणारा कृष्ण

 

बरोबर चूक सांगतो राम

चांगले वाईट सांगणे कृष्णाचे काम

 

रामाकडे मागावे आई वडिलांचे क्षेम

कृष्णाकडे मागते मी मित्रांचे प्रेम

पाळण्यात नाव ठेवताना गोविंद घ्या गोपाळ घ्या

 

अंतीम वेळी  मात्र रामनाम घ्या,

 

— दोघांकडे  मागावे तरी काय काय

      ते दोघे हसत बघत आहेत माझ्याकडे,

      म्हणत आहेत, अग आम्ही एकच

      तू फसलीस की  काय…..,

 

      म्हणाले, कोण हवा हा प्रश्नच नाही

      मिळू दोघेही नाहीतर कोणीच नाही,

 

मी रडले आणि म्हणाले –

—  दोघेही रहा माझ्याबरोबर 

     परत नाही विचारणार हा प्रश्न

     राम का कृष्ण परत विचारले जरी

     फक्त म्हणेन जय जय  रामकृष्ण हरी  

 

     जय जय रामकृष्ण हरी

आज बुद्ध पूर्णिमा के शुभ अवसर पर गौतम बुद्ध जी से संबन्धित दो रोचक तथ्य आपसे साझा करना चाहूँगा :

 1. बुद्ध पूर्णिमा का शुभ दिन वास्तव में  तीन घटनाओं के कारण प्रसिद्ध है :,

    • गौतम बुद्ध का जन्मदिवस
    • ज्ञान की प्राप्ति का दिन,
    • और महा परिनिर्वाण दिवस !

 2. बुद्ध का जन्म (लुम्बिनी में) एक वृक्ष की छांव में हुआ, उन्हें बोध भी (गया में) एक वृक्ष के तले प्राप्त हुआ, उन्होंने अपना पहला प्रवचन (सारनाथ में) और अनेक महत्वपूर्ण प्रवचन वृक्ष के नीचे बैठकर दिए, और उनका महापरिनिर्वाण भी (कुशीनगर में) एक वृक्ष के तले हुआ।

आज हम एक अत्यंत कठिन दौर से गुज़र रहे हैं. दसों दिशाओं में दुःख ही दुःख है.

वर्तमान परिवेश में बुद्ध अत्यंत प्रासंगिक हो जाते हैं. उनके द्वारा बताया मार्ग हमें इस हाहाकार से उबार सकता है.

बुद्ध ने कहा था – संसार में दुःख है. उन्होंने दुःख के अंत का उपाय भी बताया.

बुद्ध शांति, अहिंसा और करुणा की मूर्ति हैं. यदि हमें उनका अंशमात्र भी बनना है तो उनके बताये मार्ग पर चलना होगा और उनकी तरह ध्यान करना होगा.

बुद्धत्व प्राप्त करने के लिए उन्होंने आनापान ध्यान किया था. उसके बाद पैंतालिस वर्षों तक उन्होंने लाखों साधकों को विपश्यना ध्यान सिखाया और मंगल-मैत्री की भावना भी जगायी.

आप इनमें से कोई ध्यान अथवा अन्य किसी भी विधि से ध्यान कर सकते हैं लेकिन प्रतिदिन करें और सुबह-शाम करें. इससे मन शांत होगा और सम-भाव जागृत होगा.

समता भाव आने से हम धैर्यवान बनते हैं और हममें दुःख को सहन करने की क्षमता आ जाती है. हम विचलित नहीं होते और सही निर्णय ले पाते हैं.

आज नफरत और असंयमित वाणी के कारण समाज में अशांति और असंतोष का माहौल है. मन शांत होने से नफरत दूर होती है और वाणी संयमित होती है.

ध्यान करने से प्रज्ञा जागृत होती है जिसके कारण इंसान अकुशल कर्मों से दूर रहता है – जैसे हिंसा, तोड़फोड़, आगजनी, व्यभिचार, धोखाधड़ी और फरेब.

ध्यान के उपरांत कुशल भाव जागृत होते हैं – जैसे प्रेम, सद्भावना, करुणा, मैत्री, दयालुता, दान और सदाशयता.

आइये, आज हम संकल्प लें कि मन, वचन और कर्म से कभी भी कोई ऐसा कार्य नहीं करेंगे जिससे किसी भी जीवित प्राणी को किंचितमात्र भी कष्ट हो. हमारा सदैव यह प्रयास होगा कि हम शांति और सद्भाव के दूत बनें.

☆ Nirvana – The Highest Happiness ☆ 

The present times are turbulent indeed. One needs to have peace of mind to tide through the pandemic. There is a greater need to follow the doctrine and the discipline enunciated by the Buddha. His teaching is simple and easy to practice.

On the auspicious occasion of Buddha Purnima it is worth to share two interesting facts:

 1.   Buddha Purnima is actually 3-in-1:

              • Buddha’s Happy Birthday,
              • Day of attaining enlightenment,
              • and also Maha Parinirvana Day!

 2. Buddha was born under a tree in Lumbini, found awakening while meditating under a tree in Gaya, gave his first sermon in  Saranath under a tree and all his important sermons under trees, and also reached Maha Parinirvana under a tree in Kushinagar!

Nirvana is described as the highest happiness – the supreme state of bliss. Those who have attained Nirvana live in utter bliss, free from hatred and mental illness.

Meditate Like Buddha!

The Buddha realized Nirvana through his enlightenment, and for the next forty-five years of his life he endeavoured to help others to realize it for themselves.

He said, “Health is the greatest of gifts, contentedness the best riches; trust is the best of relationships, Nirvana the highest happiness.”

Nirvana is the culmination of the quest for perfection and happiness. It is a state to be attained here and now in this very life and not a state that is attained only after death.

Nirvana is the destruction of lust, the destruction of hatred, and the destruction of delusion.

Nirvana is a state of moral perfection. For one who has attained Nibbana, all unwholesome motivational roots such as greed, hatred, and delusion have been fully eradicated with no possibility of their ever becoming active again.

The realization of Nirvana comes with the blossoming of wisdom and brings perfect peace, untarnished happiness, and the stilling of the mind’s compulsive drives.

Nirvana is the destruction of thirst – the thirst of craving. It is the destruction of greed, hatred, and delusion. It is an island of safety amid the raging currents of old age, sickness, and death.

The way for realization of Nirvana is the Noble Eightfold Path – that is, right view, right intention, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, and right concentration.

We must guard our thoughts, actions, and speech so that no harm is caused to any living being. We must cultivate loving-kindness and compassion for all sentient beings.

If we seek the serenity of the Buddha, we must learn to meditate like the Buddha. Meditation brings calm and peace of mind. It enables us to live our life optimally.

One also needs to develop and cultivate one’s mind by continuously imbibing spiritual wisdom that is inherent in the teachings of the Buddha.

Let us strive to be a Buddha in the modern world. May all be happy, be peaceful, be liberated!

THIS EXERCISE WILL HELP YOU INCREASE JOY, HAPPINESS AND LIFE SATISFACTION

What determines happiness?

50% of our happiness is determined by genetically determined set point. 10% depends on our life circumstances. The remaining 40% is under our voluntary control – how we think and what we do.

The real keys to happiness:

Positive emotion, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning and Accomplishment.

Positive emotion:

Positive emotion can be about the past, the present, or the future. The positive emotions about the future include optimism, hope, faith and trust. Those about the present include joy, ecstasy, calm, zest, ebullience, pleasure, and (most importantly) flow; these emotions are what most people usually mean when they casually – but much too narrowly – talk about “happiness”. The positive emotions about the past include satisfaction, contentment, fulfilment, pride, and serenity.

These three senses of emotion are different and are not tightly linked. It is possible to be proud and satisfied about the past, but to be sour in the present and pessimistic about the future. It is desirable to be happy in all the three senses – satisfaction about the past, optimism about the future and happiness in the future. You can move your emotions in a positive direction by learning about the three kinds of happiness (past, present, future).

POSITIVE PSYCHOLOGY EXERCISES THAT WORK

The Gratitude Visit exercise:

Close your eyes. Call up the face of one important person from your past who has made a major positive difference in your life and to whom you have never fully expressed your thanks. Got a face?

Write a testimonial just long enough to cover one laminated page. Take your time composing this.

Invite that person to your home, or travel to that person’s home. It is important that you do this face to face, not just in writing or on the phone. Do not tell the person the purpose of the visit in advance; a simple “I just want to see you” will suffice.

When all settles down, read your testimonial slowly, with expression, and with eye contact. Then let the other person react unhurriedly. Reminisce together about the concrete events that make this person so important to you.

CULTIVATE AN ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE TO BE HAPPIER IN LIFE

Gratitude can make your life happier and more satisfying. This exercise helps you increase joy, happiness and life satisfaction.

Sonja Lyubomirsky, author of The How of Happiness, says that the expression of gratitude is a kind of meta strategy for achieving happiness. Grateful thinking promotes the savouring of positive life experiences. Gratitude can help people cope with stress and trauma. It helps build social bonds. The practice of gratitude is incompatible with negative emotions and may actually diminish or deter such feelings as anger, bitterness and greed.

Cultivate an attitude of gratitude to be happier in life!

When asked for his recipe for happiness, Sigmund Freud gave a very short and sensible answer: “Work and love.”

Studies on flow have demonstrated repeatedly that more than anything else, the quality of life depends on two factors: how we experience work, and our relations with other people.

Engagement, or flow, is one of the strongest pillars around which Positive Psychology is built. Here, one is fully in the present, immersed in something worthwhile.

Flow is a state of joy, creativity and total involvement, in which problems seem to disappear and there is an exhilarating feeling of transcendence.

According to Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, flow is what we feel when we are fully alive, involved with what we do, and in harmony with the environment around us.

It is something that happens most easily when we sing, dance, do sports – but it can happen when we work, read a good book, or have a good conversation.

Most people spend the largest part of their lives working and interacting with others, especially with members of their families. Therefore, it is crucial that one can learn to transform job into flow-producing activities, and to think of making relations with parents, spouses, children, and friends more enjoyable.

Studies on flow have demonstrated repeatedly that more than anything else, the quality of life depends on two factors: how we experience work, and our relations with other people.

It is true that if one finds flow in work, and in relations with other people, one is well on the way toward improving the quality of life as a whole.

We each have the potential to experience flow, whether at work, at play or in our relationships.

One thing I can say for sure – flow brings true happiness! The experience becomes its own reward.
