☆ NIRVANA – The Highest Happiness: Be A BUDDHA in the modern world ☆ Mr. Jagat Singh Bisht ☆

I am happy to share with the readers and writers of e-abhivyakti that my fourth book NIRVANA – The Highest Happiness: Be A BUDDHA in the modern world is available on Amazon.

Shri Jagat Singh Bisht

(Master Teacher: Happiness & Well-Being, Laughter Yoga Master Trainer, Author, Blogger, Educator, and Speaker.)

In this book, you will find simple, effortless, and painless practices for authentic happiness, stress management, and lasting peace. These exercises are easy to do, can be taken up by anyone, and require no previous training or experience.

About the book:

The Buddha taught the Dhamma – the law of nature, the path of truth -about two thousand and five hundred years ago.

A lot of time has since elapsed, and much water has flown down the rivers. The whole world has changed drastically but the guiding principles of spirituality remain the same.

The Buddha understood that this world is in turmoil. There is stress, misery, and pain all around. The human beings are suffering.

After a long struggle for enlightenment, he arrived at the root cause of all suffering, and discovered a path leading to liberation from suffering, to peace, to happiness.

This book helps you to understand Nirvana – the culmination of the quest for perfection and happiness – and takes you on the path leading to Enlightenment.

  • It presents the Buddha’s teachings in a crystalline form and acquaints you with the quintessence of the practice of meditation.
  • It takes you on the way to the end of suffering, pain, and distress.
  • If you are seeking a stress-free life, peace of mind, and spiritual wisdom, this book would be of immense benefit.

This is the fourth book by the author on happiness.

☆  Excerpts from the book  -Mythology ☆

Shail is a writer who mainly writes for stage drama, is sitting with some friends and drinking wine in his home at night. One of his friends asked, “Dear Shail, I remember well that you were an Atheist, non-believer of God, but now you write stories only based on Mythology, and get success because of those stories. How did this happen? Are you now believing in God or finally understand that in India, mostly people’s first love is still mythological stories?”

Shail laughed, and then said, “No, my dear friends, I am still an atheist, but know that in India people can do anything in the name of God.”

Another friend of Shail, name Kapil asked, “But you hate Mythology, then why and how did you start writing those types of stories?”

Shail said, “This is a great secret which no one knows, but you all are my very good friends, so I am going to tell you. Listen carefully. In college one day, Kapil and I had an argument at a tea stall outside the college. Kapil, that time you said that Shail you chose writing as your profession. It is very good and I am very excited. Dear Shail, your first story must be based on some Mythological character. Do you remember what I replied at that time? I said that you are stupid, all those stories and characters are fiction, and created by many intelligent people at different times to fool people. All Gods, Goddess, nothing actually exists, and If you ask me, that anyone thing which I hate most, are India’s Mythological stories. I’ll never waste my words on them. After listing this you went inside the college to attend a lecture, and I was also about to depart but someone kept his right hand over my solider. I turned around and saw a very old person who wore orange clothes and sun-marks over his forehead, long grey beard, and a smiling face, called in his pleasant voice. “So, you don’t believe in God and are going to make a career in story writing. Then my wishes to you. You will make a good career as a writer but remember, you will get success only if you write Mythological stories and you think all Gods and Mythological stories and characters are fiction. So remember, that from every Mythological story that you write, one character or incidence will take real form from your story when that story is performed on stage or shot in a film. You will never know which incidence or character will go live from your story till it actually performs.

Read Mythology in Avyakhyaam

☆ Book Review – Lines of Fate: First Love and Other Stories by Ms. Neelam Saxena Chandra

Lines of Fate: First Love and Other Stories by AKS Publishing House written by Ms. Neelam Saxena Chandra

Often a simple encounter on the path of life can change one’s entire future. “Lines of Fate” by Neelam Saxena Chandra is a collection of such selected, distinctive and unique tales from different walks of life. She has come with this unique collection of short stories to entertain the readers.

When a dice is rolled, one does not know what the outcome will be. Similarly, in an encounter between people, the aftermath is simply indefinite and unidentifiable. Maybe, the lines of fate decide the final outcome. Twists and turns are a part and parcel of each of these stories, written in simple, easy-to-read and lucid language.

We are pleased to reproduce the Book Review by an enlightened reader Mr Javvad Rizvi, Age 33, Bhopal. He is GIS executive at MAPIT Center Bhopal.

Review:

My Ratings – ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5

Quote of the Day –

There are two types of people who will tell you that you cannot make a difference in this world: those who are afraid to try and those who are afraid you will succeed…….

Synopsis –

Lines of Fate by Neelam Saxena is a Short book contains 16 short stories. As I usually prefer reading short fiction this is the perfect book for short story lovers. In this book, the Author did a great job of explaining her point of view in the form of short tales that can be read by anybody without experiencing any boredom. Each and every story has lots of twists and turns in it. Out of 16 stories, I found some of them are really heart touching for me but some are just Okay but those stories contain some morals or messages for readers.

Each and every story comprises of lots of feelings and emotions which either makes you Happy or makes you Cry. Author plot each story in a very unique manner to catch their readers until the end of the book. The characterization of the personalities in this book has plotted very clearly by the Author. The twists and turns in every story make it more engaging and intriguing.

Each and every story seems realistic. This is the perfect book for beginners in the field of reading. I am really impressed with Authors work of writing this great book and never get enough of it. I must say i want more from the writer of this book to write more stories like this and entertain the readers with your writing concept.

Here’s a summary of some really good stories from this book.

First Love – This is the story about Sukriti and Bhushan and their little daughter Surili. They both love each other very much. Everything was going perfectly in their life until surili starts acting weirdly.
Their life changed after that incident.

The Book Store – This is the Story about a Book store owner name Mr. Gidlani and their costumers named Waheeda and Martin who loves each other. 10 years later they come to the same book store to thank Mr. Gidlani for supporting them. Toshi started feeling for Tushar after seeing a love note for her in his notebook but she never discusses this with anyone not even with Tushar due to her reserved nature. ☆ पुस्तक विमर्श #9 – स्त्रियां घर लौटती हैं – “There exists books like this that make you halt and observe” – Shri Archit Ojha  ☆

When I was in school, I remember waiting for Wednesdays because I would get to read poetry in Hindi newspapers. I would sit patiently, devouring the content and take delight in the unique arrangement of words. It used to wonder me how the simple play of some letters can bring euphoria on someone’s face. How captivating! Such power they had on people seeking peace and pleasure in literature.

Years passed by and I forgot what it was like to be that person again. The rush we feel today to keep on moving forward, without pausing to be attentive towards every day things, without smiling at them and when it’s time to get old, lamenting “If only, I had stopped a bit.”

Thankfully there exists books like this that make you halt and observe.

Reading Vivek Chaturvedi’s book felt like being transported to the fields of sunflowers, oleander, mangoes, berries, guavas, basal leaves and marigolds, being surrounded by the fragrances these little things create, unknowingly, unapologetically being themselves; soaking in the aroma of Earth after the first rain, running back to home from school, celebrating festivals, resting in the sun during Summer, flying kites, racing with friends, waiting for the rainy days and when the rainy season came, then craving for the winters and those warm blankets, seeing a father’s tears when his daughter is leaving her home to make another one her own, conversing with mothers who never seem to get tired of nurturing their kids, waking up early to see the sunrise, gardening, chit-chatting with the neighbors, visiting fairs, persisting to buy toys that will be played only for a few days, laughing with friends without any reason, believing in funny superstitions, sitting under a tree, mourning when it was taken down in the name of development, sending letters without stamping them, appreciating the calmness of the moon on a peaceful night, caring for pets and weeping in the corner, lest somebody sees; when they leave us saying goodbyes.

Reading this book felt like living the childhood, the life once again and that there is no place for regrets.

There were a number of instances which took me by surprise with their lucidity and easy-going manner. All the 56 poems have their own distinctive charisma. It was difficult for me to select my favorites but following lines in these poems would stay with me. I’m providing English translation for the titles, so the readers can adore the magnificence of the author’s creativity. Here are a few lines, I hope they don’t get lost in translation:

  1. Women Return their Homes: A home too, is a child for a woman, that grows a little more, every day.
  2. The domestic/household women have been treated like pencils: Thrown with anger and boredom, dropped down from the desk and mentality, a bit of nib got saved, but the lead inside is broken, still they were picked up and employed for selfish purposes again and again.
  3. Where are you: The kids who were locked inside their homes are now playing in the mud, rolling and laughing, a tuft of grass has started growing through a crack in the concrete, where are you?
  4. Typist: I said “Courage”, and she wrote it once, I said “courage” again, and the whole page got filled with that one word!
  5. Dad: All your life, many icy storms went through you, and you did not let any of them touch us. Dad, you were Himalayan.

I believe that of all the literature in the world, Hindi poetry is a genre that you cannot get enough of. They take time to build upon you. They sing a song that means multiple things to different people, according to the life they have seen. Some years back, I read a poem by a Russian Poetess about how much she loved Hindi and reading this book, kept reminding me of why I also love Hindi so much.

I admired how nature was the core and strength of this book. Finding similarities between the nature and human activities, it warms the heart and develops imagination. More than that, I’m grateful for it brought the observer in me back again. It made me notice things around me, every day, mundane, normal things that nobody pays attention to.

Though the title says Women Return their Homes, the book carries insightful and smart observations, poems about environment, seasons, motherhood, parenting, friendship, love, home, children, elders, mythology, women empowerment and the society. You read a few lines and realize the richness of experiences these poems posses. I will turn back to this book again and again for its brevity, clarity and the wisdom it contains.

I wish that English translation of these poems would also be published some day, so that English speakers can take delight in the beauty that the author has fabricated.

If, like me, you haven’t been around Hindi poetry for a while, this book will remind you to go back to your roots, appreciate and feel the charm again in observing the effortless joy our surroundings carry.

If you have been around Hindi poetry for a while, this book will solidify the faith that Hindi Literature’s future is in gifted hands.

Literary Journey

My literary journey began when I started teaching rather learning with pre-schoolers. I felt the urgent requirement to adequately understand each child at his or her level of understanding.

Concurrently, the academic curricula needed to be re-focused to be ‘child-led’ rather than ‘teacher-led’ to carefully nurture their unconditional love for learning. This required parents and teachers to be ‘sensitized’ with deeper knowledge and profound understanding about the child. To bridge the increasing gap between the key facilitator and the active learners; required thoughtful attention to raise children in a nurturing and secure environment to promote an atmosphere rich in love, respect, gratitude, self-discipline, self-reliance, responsibility and leadership.

This insight marked the turning point which made me resign as a Dean and put pen to paper. I experienced the urgent need to present this insight to the world so that we de-emphasize the focus from score-based results and shift the primary focus to a deeper and more profound understanding of learning.

Excerpt (Chapter # 9 – Expectations):

Begin by equating your ‘expectations’ with the facts of your child’s development (Chapter-2, Child’s Development Milestones). Check the current stage of your child’s development and the learning styles of your child (Chapter-3, Learning Preferences-Know ‘Yourself’ and ‘Your Child’). Now, compare your expectations with the facts about your child and question yourself if your expectations are well within the parameters of reason. Weed out the expectations that hold no meaning for your child at his or her stage of development.

Learning is innate for the child, and the child continues building on experiences over his or her lifetime. If the child’s learning experiences are good, it adds to his or her life; but think about the reverse situation!

Will the ‘unrealistic’ expectations help the child become a better person?

Or, is there a ‘miss?’

Think and think again, if your expectations are ‘that’ important; that you are prepared to risk the lifetime-relationship that exists between you and your child.

Book Review:

Purn Vinashak, as the title suggests very clearly, is a novel that mixes many things together to create a completely different experience for the readers – thriller, mystery, adventure, spirituality, philosophy, and also religious elements. The novel fixates around a character named Surya Singha who is a travel guide and also a mysterious person as perceived by the characters around him – Ashish, Avinash and Puja. The novel is a mystery in itself as we, as the readers, are taken through different passages and paths only to understand that the character who is the fulcrum of the novel is none other but the brother of great King Ravana – Vibhishan himself.

Ashish, Avinash and Puja are people of the modern era and interested in researching about epics, religious texts and ancient scriptures. They are baffled when Surya Singha shocks them by revealing his true identity as a person who has lived many thousand years, has seen the great battle between Ram and Ravana, the great war of Mahabharata and also the two world wars. This revelation shocks Puja and others, especially Ashish who, thereafter, remains in awe throughout the novel.

‘Vibhishan Sir’ as other characters call him, reveals many secrets to these characters. Secrets and knowledge from Yoga, Spirituality, Karma, Ramayana and Mahabharata and many other ancient treasures that Ashish (and other characters) enjoy immensely.

Towards the conclusion, however, the novel takes a very different turn and a twist occurs that leaves Ashish shocked! This is something that the readers will find out themselves.

Purna Vinashak is written in Hindi and the author Ashish Kumar hasn’t left any spaces empty – content, language, plot, and theme – everything is properly maintained. However, at times, the novel’s narrative takes the shape of non-fiction as Vibhishan begins explaining things in details. That is something that only religious and spiritual readers will find exciting. Otherwise, the novel is exciting for the readers in general minus the Vibhishan’s extreme knowledge of things.

You can get a copy of the novel from Amazon and enjoy reading it right away!
